Opportunity

Five Minute Friday! Every Friday Lisa-Jo Baker shares a word prompt and lots of ladies write about it for five minutes. Just write what comes to mind, and then we all link up our posts and read what each other wrote. It's fun! So here is mine today. You should give it a try!

Opportunity

Five minutes.

Go!

This is what comes to mind.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you all. I have been doing this blogging thing for almost a year now. Kind of quietly. 2013 is going to be a year of doing for me, and this is one of my first steps. To come out from behind my computer and meet some new friends! If you would like to introduce yourself I would love to meet you! Please leave me a comment and a link to your blog or facebook page or someway that I can get to know you!

I am looking forward to meeting you and thank you Lisa-Jo for this wonderful opportunity!!!

A little about me: I live in Alaska. I discovered God's call on my life as a writer just one year ago. I really don't have any writer friends yet. Would love to meet some of you! I am sort of serious minded, but I love to laugh. I have a house full of love and lively children and we home school them right now. And well my five minutes is up, sooooo ........

How about you?

Hi Renee,
Love your post! I am sort of in the same boat as you. I have blogged off and on for a couple of years but want to get more into it. I have wanted to meet more women who are doing the same thing as me. Chasing kids, trying to write, trying to teach and trying to keep the house at least a little bit presentable! Thanks for writing!

Oops! I didn't mean to delete that. Ok, lets just start again. Hi Chrissy. Thank you for introducing yourself! I would love to get to know you.
I visited your blog a bit. Your family is sweet. May all of your new endeavors be rooted in Jesus this year and may He bless you abundantly! ~Renee

I am a newbie, too, Renee and it is a joy meeting you.
I began blogging in the Fall of 2012; intentionally answering the call to write. Prior to joining this FmF community, I knew no writers either. Lisa Jo's community is such a blessing to me.
You are certain to feel "at home" here.
I look forward to your visit with me at http://graceillustrated.me
My best,
Paula
P.S.
Reading that you live in Alaska, hearing the news today; knowing God is providing all that is needed right now.

Thank you Paula! It is a blessing that you introduced yourself to me. I just visited your blog. Lovely. Last night was quite exciting for sure. I live on an island with 8500 people. We had an evacuation shortly after midnight that lasted for 3 hours. All of Sitka had to seek higher ground. We are very thankful that it was just a little inconvenience and nothing worse. The earthquake was scary. My entire 3000 sf two story house was shaking and rattling! Feeling very thankful today, and a little sleepy. :-) ~Renee

Hi Renee--
Okay, I've made a few comments tonight. So now I will introduce myself. I've been blogging somewhat regularly for the past 18 months at http://journey2wonder.wordpress.com We have a large family with 4 grown kids, 1 in heaven, and 2 still at home. It has been a rough few years--husband's cancer, son dying, looking for the "what next," moving to remote NM to work with at-risk Navajo kids, and now, again, looking for the "what next." Through it all, after a little (or alot) of wrestling with God, I can say that I'm clinging to faith and counting on HOPE from God. And the laughter and the fun are still with us...

Now I'm gonna go sign up for email updates of your blog. Can't wait to hear more about what God is doing in YOUR life in the coming months!

Jill,
I am so glad you stopped by and took the time to introduce yourself. Wow, it sounds like God has walked you through some tough times. Your short testimony is encouraging, joy is what you have described. Something given to us by our Father and something that no one and nothing can take away from us. We can only give it away, and you certainly haven't. So good to meet you! Have FUN in Germany!
