Let's Make It Count!

I have been thinking about eternity recently, and living my life in the reality of eternity. I read something this morning that encouraged me not to let that focus drop. It was a short excerpt from a book, the author was talking about preparing to die. Ready or not, we are all going there someday. She was sharing about her fear of dying, which I believe is a common fear that all of humanity shares, myself included.  Fear of anything unknown has the power to paralyze me. I'm the sort that likes to see around the block before I start.

So this is my exhortation for you today,

Are you ready to die? Are you prepared?

Preparation for death is really preparation to stand before Jesus.

I for one, am NOT ready. I feel like I have wasted most of my life up until recently. Not in a condemnation sort of way, but in a motivational sort of way. I want the rest of my life to count. I long to hear the words, 'Well done, My child."

What are we doing with the gifts and talents that our Creator has endowed us with?
Have we discovered them?
Are we developing and growing in them?
Are we using what He has given us, to bring Him glory?
What will I have to offer Him on the day I see Him face to face?
When it is all said and done, did my life really matter?
Will I have anything to offer?
Will you?
What are we spending our time doing?

This perspective has radically changed my life over the past six months. I have decided to give it all I've got. I'm not holding back. I am putting my life in order and beginning to prioritize the important things. No person is promised tomorrow. I want to encourage you to think hard about this.

As I was typing and pondering this exhortation, the following song began to play in the background written by Robin Mark 'When It's All Said And Done' :

There is just one thing that matters

Did I do my best to live for truth

Did I live my life for You

When it's all been said and done

All my treasures will mean nothing

Only what I've done for love's Reward

Will stand the test of time

Lord Your mercy is so great

That You look beyond our Weakness

And find purest gold in miry clay

Making sinners into saints

I will always sing Your praise

Here on earth and ever after

For You've shown me Heaven's my

True home

When it's all been said and done

You're my life when life is gone

Lord I'll live my life for You

God! Be glorified in us today!
