Hold On!

Okay so I said I was going to share about my journey of discovering my spiritual gifts next, but hey, who knows the mind of God? I kind of had a feeling that it was unwise to tell you what was coming next. God is leading here and I am following, which means that usually I can't see more than the step I am on. He has never yet allowed me to see very far down the road. I am by nature a list maker and a planner. But since I embarked on this journey of total surrender I have totally left off from list making. That is another topic that I have been writing about but have not yet published. I'll share it with you some day soon, LORD WILLING.

I have been meditating on the storms of life lately. Being in a bit of one is what brought it up. Coming through the storm, I am looking back realizing that I totally failed in some areas. I am reminded of a verse in Corinthians somewhere that says 'take heed if you think you stand lest you fall................'

I'm getting up now.

He is always there. Even when we can't see Him.

My husband recently reminded me that we need to be prepared for trials that threaten to undo us. It is to be expected as we press in to the Kingdom of God. The enemy of our souls isn't going to just sit by and watch as we make in roads into his territory. He is gonna fight back. Try to discourage us and throw us off course. As long as we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus we will not be blown off course, but once we begin to give in to the winds that are blowing against us, we are in trouble fast, and the Kingdom of God begins to suffer. Now I am not saying that Satan made my babies sick. I really don't know why they are sick. I think it is just a part of living in a fallen world- we get sick. What I am saying is this: God knows those that are His and He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. In the storm, out of the storm, He is there. If we begin to doubt  this, as Satan will encourage us to do, then we will begin to fall apart.

He is always there.

Storms come in different intensities, yet for each of us, when we are facing adverse circumstances it can be a storm. I think of myself this past week, sick children with croup and lack of sleep. This for me has been a storm and an opportunity to focus on Jesus or the wind. Then I think of a friend of mine, my age, going through intense chemotherapy treatments for cancer, a daughter, the same age as one of mine, having grand mal seizures, the unexpected accidental death of a 2 year old nephew, and moving. All in the same year! I think to myself, wow, what have I to be talking about? A few sick children? A storm?

God spoke to my heart on this. We shouldn't minimize our particular situation and feel guilty when we are facing a circumstance that is too big for us, but not nearly as big as someone else's. The Bible says that those who compare themselves amongst themselves are not wise. This applies here. God cares about all of us all of the time, and it is wrong to feel like we can't reach out to God if our particular storm isn't as great as someone else's. We are all important to Him. He cares about every detail of our lives. It is okay to admit our weakness. God is with us in the rain shower, the thunderstorm, the hurricane and the tornado.

His Word says:

Listen to the Lord who created you, O Israel,
the One who formed you says,
"Do not be afraid,
for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name;
(Renee, Andrea, April, Tracy, etc........)
You are Mine.
When you go through the deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
 the flames will not consume you.
For I am the the Lord, your God,
the Holy one of Israel, your Saviour."
Isaiah 43:1-3

So, my friend I want to encourage you. Whatever you are going through, remember that God is with you.

The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand.
Psalm37:23-24

He has promised to never leave you, to never forsake you, He has counted the very hairs of your head, and is very attentive to your life. He knows when a sparrow falls to the ground- and you are much more valuable to Him than a sparrow. Don't doubt it!

As I heard in a song recently, "keep your eyes on the prize, hold on, hold on, hold on........." by Sarah Groves.

 Hold on my dear friend.

For the Lord holds them by the hand

Glory to God
all day, everyday.
