The Son Is Shining!

Come and listen, all you who fear God,
and I will tell you what He did for me.
For I cried out to Him for help,
praising Him as I spoke.
If I had not confessed the sin of my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.
But God did listen!
He paid attention to my prayer.
Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer
or withdraw His unfailing love from me.
Psalm 66:16-20

I read a Facebook post by a friend this morning. I really wanted to comment but I didn't really know what to say at the time. I just felt like God had something to say to her, to encourage her. And the voice of the enemy of our souls was doing his job, whispering to me, 'you don't always have to say something, people are going to get tired of you talking about God all of the time' and more whispers like that. Knowing in my heart though, that God did indeed want to speak encouragement to her. I thought of several comments that I could make, but between Satan whispering in my ear, and me not discerning exactly what to say, I set my phone down and took a shower. Thirty minutes later, as I was sitting on my couch, sipping my morning coffee, I just couldn't seem to stop thinking about this individual. God was definitely directing me to say something. Again, what Lord? Well this blog post is the result of her faithfulness to share, and what an encouragement she is to me!

The Facebook post was this:

‎"Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times you people. Pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge, a fortress and a high tower for us. Selah (pause and think calmly about that).". ~Psalm 62:8

I am so thankful for the encouragement of His Word this morning. Many days in the last few months I have been like a 'dry and weary land, where there is no water.....'. But He is faithful and doesn't drop us just because we struggle and strain. If you are in a season like that, just keep holding on to Jesus-the Lover of our souls, knowing that He is there, holding you and I in His hand. 'O He loves us, how He loves us....'

I often put my headphones on in the morning and start my special time with God praising Him in my heart with music. We have a house with nine children and so I am very thankful for headphones. Now, if I was alone in my house, I would be singing not just in my heart but out loud, but as this would render an audience at 5:30 in the morning, I put on my headphones and praise Him in my heart. This is my alone time with God. The most precious time of every day. Sometimes I go to bed at night anxious to wake up! He is so faithful to me. Always waiting for me. Just an encouragement here: He is waiting for you too! There have been times, many, that early morning time with God has not been physically possible. And He has always been faithful to meet me wherever and whenever I put aside time to just seek Him and to just sit quietly in His presence. He really does love us, more than we often acknowledge, mostly because we don't understand His amazing love. He is calling His people to come to Him. Sit with Him. Read His Word, learn to know Him. He promises that we won't be disappointed! One thing is sure, if we are faithless He remains faithful. His love for us, His faithfulness to us, is not dependent on our circumstances.

Headphones: The song I began with is called Psalm 62 by Aaron Keyes. At the time I did not realize that that was the Psalm that my friend quoted. Hmmmm.....God is here! Don't doubt it! He wants to make Himself known to us.

It has been raining, cold and cloudy for weeks here. I live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I am serious! People come here for their vacations! They spend a lot of money to get here too. I live on an island in Southeast Alaska. What I have been meditating on lately is God's faithfulness and my apparent faithlessness. And the clouds have been an object lesson for me. When the clouds come in, it is almost tangible. They are gray and darker gray and they come down and swallow up the mountains so that all you see is grey everywhere. Sometimes it feels like you are suffocating. It's this closed in kind of feeling. The mountain side of the island is a gray wall and the ocean takes on the same grayness as the sky. This can sometimes last for weeks. But then, as is God's faithfulness, the sun begins to come through the clouds, His glory is revealed, and the majesty and splendor are totally breathtaking! It is very hard for me to put into words what surrounds me on a sunny day, the best I can so is to say that it is like a feast for your eyes. The beauty of where I live fills my entire being with  an unexplainable awe. Words are not enough.

Are you sensing where my meditation is going? The beauty is always there. God is always faithful. Sometimes in my humanity and the circumstances of my life, I begin to focus on the clouds. Life can definitely be like that. Day in and day out, we begin to just exist, losing our grasp on our purpose for living. But He remains faithful! Sometimes I think He lets us walk through the gray cloudy days just so that He can reveal afresh to us His magnificent glorious splendor! So my encouragement to you is this: God is faithful, and He doesn't change. The Son is always shining whether we 'feel' it or not. Our faithfulness cannot be based on how we feel. We must sometimes walk in the midst of the fog, in faith, unable to see Him, but just because we can't see Him, that doesn't mean He isn't there. This life is a faith walk my friend. Hold hands with God, and He will bring you through to the light. Trust Him with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall make your paths straight! (Proverbs3:5-6)

Now that I am coming to the conclusion of this beautiful time with the Lord, I am coming to the realization that God had something to say to me ! Yes, He has definitely spoken to my heart this morning, He is God, and I will Praise Him! And thank you to my friend that started all of this!

May God be merciful and bless us.
May His face smile with favor on us.
May Your ways be known throughout the earth,
Your saving power among people everywhere.
May the nations praise You, O God.
Yes, may all the nations praise You.
Let the whole world sing for joy,
because You govern the nations with justice
and guide the people of the whole world.
May the nations praise You, O God.
Yes, may all the nations praise You.
Then the earth will yield its harvests,
and God, our God, will richly bless us.
Yes, God will bless us,
and people all over the world will fear Him.
Psalm 67

Glory to Jesus!
The Author of our faith.
