I Want What You Have..........

Thinking lately...... about you.....about me....about God.......what's it all about? Does He really have a purpose for each of us?

I have been waiting on God to give me a topic to write about. I love to write, especially to you. Praying with a handful of believers on Tuesday morning I was impressed with a glimpse of the heart of God.  Forming words to this has been interesting. To tell you the truth, as I sit here to write, I don't quite remember what I am supposed to be writing about. But thankfully I have begun to carry a handy little notebook that fits in my back pocket, so that I can jot down God's precious words of encouragement to me. So, my notes go something like this....

  • God is bigger
  • through the motions
  • comments, not me?, I want what you have, Thank you   for her joy
  • no respecter of persons
  • where did this start?
  • complete surrender
  • awaken to God
  • awaken our hearts
  • awaken to our reason for living

Can you hear God through my little notebook? Probably not. That is our Awesome God!
He speaks to each us in such an intimate way. He knows us better than we know.

I think about Psalm 139
Oh Lord, You have examined my heart and You know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I'm far away. ( have you ever felt far away in your thoughts? He is there.)
It goes on to say a lot of wonderful things about God's love and attentiveness to us, like, You know everything I do, and You know what I am going to say even before I say it, and how precious are Your thoughts about me, Oh God! .......You should read it.You should believe it.

One of my new favorite songs says this:

I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking,
"What if I had given everything,
instead of going through the motions?"

No regrets, not this time
I'm gonna let my heart defeat my mind
Let Your love make me whole
I think I'm finally feeling something
'Cause just okay is not enough
Help me fight through the nothingness of this life

take me all the way

I don't wanna go through the motions

Matthew West - Motions

.
I started 2012 out with this cry in my heart. ( I discovered this song last week!)

As I walk with Jesus it only gets louder. He does have a purpose for each of us. I am discovering that His purpose is very specific. He is into the details. Remember Psalm 139? As I am discovering His specific plan for my life,  I am amazed at how it started as a general idea and as I step out in faith, taking the next step, He leads me, and the path is getting more narrow. There is nothing  that compares to walking with Jesus' all consuming passion inside of me.

He wants to be the passion in each of us. So how did I go from 'going through the motions' to being consumed with passion for Jesus Christ?   How did I get to this place where people are saying to me , "I want what you have."

 COMPLETE SURRENDER

I gave all of my hopes, all of my dreams, all of my wishes, all of my desires, all of my ideas, all of my time, all of.........me to Jesus. I let go of getting my way, and decided to try God's way. You see, I spent a long time trying to make my way God's way. It didn't work. It was very frustrating. And the result was a very dry and dissatisfying walk with God. That is how I would describe 'going through the motions', dry and totally unfulfilling. So what did God replace all of my 'mys' with? Himself. And what does that mean? If you are asking yourself that question, and you are ready to go all the way with God, you are in for something so abundant and so delightful, and so awesome. We are talking about God here. He gives abundantly more than we could ever ask or think. His grace is immeasurable, and when he blesses it is uncontainable. As long as I continue walking with Him, He is faithful to fill my vessel everyday, and He always gives me more than I need. That's what you get! The overflow of God's grace in my life.

As we find His specific will for our lives it is like this, we are vessels and God pours His Holy Spirit into us, and then, as we are completely His, He pours us out to quench the thirst of the thirsty.  When we are focused on Jesus and He is using us to bring Him glory we are like a well watered garden, it is so beautiful.

If you are going through the motions, it is my hope that you will 'want what I have. God is no respecter of persons. He doesn't have favorites, and He doesn't change. He offers you an abundant and very  blessed life....... Through complete surrender to Him. I pray that your heart is awakening to God and to your reason for living. He has a very specific plan for you to bring Him glory. Are you going to walk with Him all the way?

I would love to hear what you have to say! What is God doing in your life?

In grace,

Renee

God is bringing about in me some very specific things.
To know Him through His word and not through someone else's interpretation of Him.

To want to know Him and desire to be with Him more than anything or anyone else in my life.

To discover what it truly means to be in love with Jesus and how much He truly loves me.

And to be bold in the knowledge He has already given me, standing firm on the authority of His word.

Tracy that is awesome! I am at a very similar place in my walk with the Lord. I have this picture in my mind this morning of being embraced in God's arms. A peaceful resting in a quiet assurance of security. Safe.
I wrote this in my journal this morning:

Am I walking with God in an intimate way?
Not close enough.
Will I ever be close enough?
Eternity in my Heart.
Only when I see Jesus face to face do I think this intense longing to know Him more will be realized.
Filled. Contented. Quieted.
Jesus
I want to see Jesus
Standing at the door of my heart
inviting me in to a great big bear hug
enveloping me
safe.
secure.
all the world is at rest
everything will be okay

I am blessed by your sharing what God is doing in your life. You definitely are a seeker of God. It brings to mind the Bible verse put to song, "Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, ask and it shall be given and His love comes a tumbling down". How true! We don't have (whatever request) because we don't ask, seek pursue. How I limit God ... and He IS limit-less, soverign, almighty, etc. Thanks again Renee for stepping out and sharing your heart and God's heart! And thank you for motivating me to continue to seek Him! :)

It is so great read this! I have known Jesus all my life it was what I was taught by my mother and father. But recently I have come to know him, like really trust in him. And not try to make my life happen. The past 8 months have been a rough time for me I thought I was walking with God and letting him lead the way. but I did not have peace and joy. I found I was looking to other things to fill this void. But they did not bring peace to me, they only made it worse. One evening in March I was down by the Manistee river, and songs of praise to God that I had not song for years came to mind, I started sing them. And I could not stop from crying, and could feel the presence of Jesus there on the dock. After this I have had much good happening to me.
We serve a living God!

Amen David! I just want to encourage you to keep pressing in to the life of Jesus. It is so much more than the world can offer us. Walk in the balance of grace and truth and you will find your way to Jesus. Allow Him to fill all of you, hold nothing back. It is a great blessing to serve a Living God, as we serve He fills us and blesses us so much that we don't even realize that we are actually working! God is really and truly so good. I remind myself often that He commands us to love Him with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind, and to love our neighbor as our self. Working with Jesus is all about people. He is all about people. Go forth and love in His name! Glory to God!
